Why Preservation matters

Flowers carry meaning far beyond their beauty. They are present in the most important moments of life — celebrations of love, milestones, remembrance, and farewell. Preserving them allows those moments to live on in a tangible, lasting form.

Honoring a Life

Flowers are often present when we say goodbye to someone we love. They represent remembrance, gratitude, and the impact that person had on our lives.

Preserving memorial flowers provides a way to keep a physical connection to those memories. Instead of fading away, the blooms can be transformed into a lasting tribute — a piece that quietly honors a life well lived.

Many families choose to preserve flowers from a memorial service, celebration of life, or graveside arrangement. The result becomes something deeply personal: a piece that carries memory, comfort, and legacy.

Holding Onto the Moment

A wedding day moves quickly. Months of planning culminate in a few fleeting hours filled with emotion, family, and celebration. Your bouquet is more than a floral arrangement — it represents the beginning of a new chapter.

Preserving your wedding flowers allows that moment to remain part of your home and your story.

Through careful drying and thoughtful design, your bouquet can become a timeless piece of art — whether displayed as framed floral art, incorporated into wood and epoxy heirlooms, or crafted into meaningful keepsakes.

Years from now, when you see those preserved blooms, you’ll remember not only the day, but the feeling of it.

Because some moments deserve to last.

Flowers are naturally temporary. Preservation allows their meaning to endure.

By combining delicate floral preservation techniques with handcrafted wood and epoxy design, Bark and Boards creates pieces that hold both beauty and story — objects meant to live in your home and in your family for years to come.

At Bark and Boards, floral preservation transforms meaningful blooms into heirloom pieces that can be displayed, held, and passed down for generations.

Floral Preservation FAQs

When should I reserve floral preservation?

Because flowers begin to fade quickly after an event, the best time to reserve preservation is before your wedding or memorial service. Most clients secure their spot 1–3 months in advance to ensure availability.

While we occasionally accept last-minute requests, flowers must typically arrive within 2–4 days of the event for the best preservation results.

How soon do you need the flowers after the event?

Ideally, flowers should be delivered or shipped within 24–72 hours after the wedding or memorial service. This allows us to begin the preservation process while the flowers are still in their best possible condition.

If you’re unsure about timing, simply contact us and we can guide you through the best next steps.

Can I ship my flowers to you?

Yes. Many of our clients ship their flowers to us.

We provide simple packing and shipping instructions to ensure your bouquet arrives safely and in good condition. Overnight or expedited shipping is typically recommended.

Local clients may also schedule a drop-off appointment.

What happens to my flowers once you receive them?

Once your flowers arrive, they are:

• Carefully documented and photographed
• Individually prepared for preservation
• Placed into a drying process designed to maintain color and structure

After the flowers are fully preserved, we begin the design and arrangement phase, where they are carefully placed into your selected heirloom piece.

Will my flowers look exactly the same after preservation?

Flowers naturally change during the preservation process. Some colors soften slightly and delicate blooms may shift in shape as they dry.

However, these natural changes are part of what makes preserved florals so beautiful. Each piece becomes a unique reflection of the original bouquet and the moment it represents.

How long does the preservation process take?

Floral preservation is a careful process that cannot be rushed.

Most pieces are completed within 12–16 weeks, depending on the complexity of the design and seasonal demand.

Our goal is always to create a finished heirloom that reflects the care and meaning behind the flowers.

Can I create multiple pieces from one bouquet?

Yes, and many clients choose to do this.

A single bouquet can often be used to create multiple heirloom pieces, such as a framed display for your home and smaller keepsakes for parents or family members.

Our bundled collections are designed specifically for this purpose.

What types of flowers preserve best?

Most flowers can be preserved, including:

• Roses
• Peonies
• Ranunculus
• Hydrangea
• Garden roses
• Many types of greenery and filler florals

Very delicate flowers may change more during the drying process, but they can still be incorporated beautifully into the final design.

Do you preserve memorial flowers as well?

Yes. In addition to wedding bouquets, we also preserve flowers from memorial services, celebrations of life, and meaningful arrangements.

These pieces are designed to become lasting tributes that honor a loved one and keep those memories close.

Reserving your preservation is simple.

  1. Select the collection or bundle that best fits what you would like to create.

  2. Complete the reservation agreement.
